TUES 5/2 w/Erik Lawrence - A Sweet Residency Show Reunion
I am equal parts thrilled and honored to announce that I will be uniting with my dear friend and long-time musical collaborator, saxophonist & flutist Erik Lawrence, in presenting my next residency concert at Caffe Vivaldi. Please join us if you can. Erik's expression is transcendent, and our duo performance is deeply inspired. It's going to be an incredible night. Come...we have stories and ideas that long to meet and muse with you for an intimate NYC listening room spell...
Here's a short bio that offers a bit of insight into Erik's remarkable talents and illustrious trail-markers:
Erik Lawrence is a saxophonist, flutist, Sound and Vibrational Healing practitioner, educator, journalist, poet, and photographer. Having begun his passionate study of saxophone and flute at age five, Erik performed on his first record at eight, and has taught in colleges since he was eighteen, including Williams College and Dartmouth. As a performing artist, Erik has played, toured, and recorded with a wide array of legends and Grammy-winners artists, including: Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples, Buddy Miles, Chico Hamilton, Sonny Sharrock, Aretha Franklin, Spin Doctors, Glen Hansard, Elvis Costello, Allen Toussaint, Dr John, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Tibetan flute master Nawang Khechog, Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, and numerous others, many of whom he regards as mentors and sound healers as much as performers. Erik has appeared as a leader and band member on countless coveted stages of major television shows, concert halls, clubs, and festivals throughout the world. He is currently a central member of The Midnight Ramble Band (Levon Helm Band), Butler, Bernstein & The Hot 9, and The Levin Brothers. Erik has studied world music for many years and continues to travel internationally to perform, collect, and learn to play flutes.
